The attendees at the 13th Annual chicken Soup Cook-Off on Sunday at Isaac Wise Center consumed 226 gallons of chicken soup... all kinds of chicken soup. There were variations with matzoh balls, with noodles, with tortilla strips, with Thai seasonings. There was even chicken soup without chicken.
But only a few of the soups won the trophies with the gold chicken on top. 'Wich on Sycamore, Downtown, did well, taking home two prizes for one soup. Their Thai chicken coconut curry soup won People's Choice and Best Original.
Best matzo ball went to Cedar Village, the Jewish retirement center in Mason. Kroger in Mariemont took home the best chicken noodle soup prize. And the Judge's choice went to Wise Temple's Youth Group.
There was a vegetarian award for a meatless soup, and it went to a barbecue restaurant. Pit to Plate in Mount Healthy won for their white bean chili.
